Meet Heather
I am an attorney who works in Downtown Boston. I grew up in Bedford and have lived in North Cambridge for the last four years. I enjoy running, trips to the Caribbean, and listening to podcasts while trying out recipes from my expansive collection of cookbooks. My new kitchen is my favorite room in the condo!
Why did you decide to buy a home?
I had been saving for the last few years with the goal of buying a place. This winter I realized I was ready to start searching in hopes of finding something before re-signing my lease.
Why did you choose Wenjen and MA Properties?
I was looking for someone who was knowledgeable about the local market and who understood what I was looking for. Wenjen had handled the sale of my grandmother’s home in Cambridge last year and my parents really enjoyed working with her.
What was the best part of your Buying Experience?
Touring the house I ended up purchasing. I stepped into the kitchen and knew it was the one!
Wenjen had done a lot of research about the homes in my price range, and in the neighborhoods I wanted to focus on. This gave me a lot of confidence when we did make an offer that it was a competitive one. She also prepared me well for the stages of this process, from offer through closing, and was available to answer questions along the way. She provided great insight on options to make my offer more competitive, such as opting for a pre-offer inspection. I also felt very prepared for responding to a counteroffer or competing bid.
What surprised you the most about the buying process?
How competitive and stressful it was, especially when a property I really liked did not have a favorable pre-offer inspection. I was definitely worried I wouldn’t find something I liked, and in my price range, before I had to resign my lease.
What is your top buying tip?
At least right now, where things are selling fast, stay on top of new listings and book a private viewing ahead of the open house. Also, don’t fall in love with anything until you’ve seen the basement!
